2nd Annual "Reatta Rendezvous"

While the interest level is high I would like to solicit a volunteer to organize the "2nd Annual Reatta Rendezvous". For those of you that are members of the Reatta Division - BCA (who host this discussion forum), you are already aware that myself and Marc Brouillette organized and hosted the '1st Annual Reatta Rendezvous' in Charlottesville, VA in July, 2000 on the way to the BCA National in Richmond. The 2001 BCA National is July 11-15 in Buffalo, NY. I realize this is not convenient for folks west of the Mississippi, but there are a lot of Reattas on the east side. This is a Reatta Division sponsored event, and as such should be organized by a Division member. Consistent with our 1st Rendezvous, participants can be members or guests, as this is viewed as new membership event. Last years event included tours of Monticello and Montpelier, a group dinner and a driving convoy to the BCA National in Richmond. The desire would be to have an even bigger and better Rendezvous in 2001. The desire would probably be to meet near Buffalo (100 mile radius) as a Reatta group, tour and/or dinner, with a convoy into Buffalo. If there is a Jim Finn equivalent in New York that would be even better. OK - the volunteer organizer(s) line is forming now. Please feel free to comment or offer other input. grin.gif

Stan. There is an event called "cruising the Coast" in the first week of October annually here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast It is a five day event with over 5000 cars in attendance , everthing from street rods, antiques, collectables, Five or six cities host daily events, the casino's host parties dances and a lot of "old" entertainment, of the 5000 cars here this year I only saw one Reatta, Mine. Sure would be a venue to display a string of Reatta"s cruising togather during the event, maybe even a Reatta BBQ at my place on one of the days, Just thought I would throw this out for comment, if there is interest I can contact the organizers for all the info on the 2001 event , and post it. Stan (and all) it might be overly ambitious, but because of the location, maybe two.... one coming from the West/South and another from the East/south. <P>I would love to meet in Flint and tour the Sloan and get some history on "Buick Town"<BR> <BR><P>------------------<BR>Barney Eaton Reatta technical advisor for BCA and keeper of the Reatta database.

So far I have only met a handful of people (OK maybe two hands full)willing to drive more than a 3-4 hours and spend a few days together socializing and talking about Reattas. I see them every year at the BCA / Reatta National Meet and look forward to seeing them the following year. I know there are highly concentrated populations of Reattas around most major metro areas. I think it is great that several people have organized or are trying to organize one-day drives and get togethers. This is certainly easier (both from organizing as well as participating) than a 'national' event. My thought was that I would coordinate the National event (Reatta Rendezvous II) for next July, if enough people were interested in attending and maybe several individuals from nearby major metro areas (Balt-DC, NY-NJ,etc.) could try to pull smaller groups together to form a larger group. I thought I would throw the idea out for comment, but do not seem to be getting much enthusiasm or comment. I will accept negative comments as well! I suspect that for most people visiting this forum, their primary interest is in repairing a problem or buying or selling a Reatta. A trip to the Sloan is certainly a possibility (Barney), although i wouldn't necessarily consider that on the way to Buffalo from Texas.
