stock turbo????????????

Recommended Posts

im taking the 3.8 out of my 87 gn. i have aftermarket headers.... both headers flow into the crossover pipe and then up to the turbo. when i pulled the headers off where the up pipe comes off the crossover and goes up and connets to the turbo it has a three bolt flange. is this stock? i thought that on the stock setup where the turbo "sits" on the pass manifold it has a 2 bolt flange. ill try to post pis in the next couple of days if knowone knows what the hell im talking bout. this setup was on the car when i bought it so i dont know if its a stock turbo or not. although it has boosted to a lil over 20 psi before. any info helps

thx

Stock turbo has Garrett stamped on the turbo housing. Though some aftermarket ones use the garrett housing also. The turbo is connected to the passenger side header by a 3 bolt connection. As for the turbo. All 86 and 87 had them this way. 84 and 85 had them mounted by the intake manifold near the passenger side valve cover. Need more info go to.
