twrcars
I have a car that won a first junior in 1961 or 1962. I would like to get it judged for a Senior this year. I have no records of its winning, just memory. It was not my car at the time. ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE, Dec 1960, p 467 lists all such winners to that date. Is there a later such list? Are there records that go back that far? May it now compete for a Senior? twrcars@winternet.com
Steve Moskowitz
Yes, we have a winners book going back to the 50's. You can after 10 years recycle a car and the car will revert back to Junior status. The car will have to win its First Junior before you can enter it for Senior judging.
twrcars
Hi Steve. My question is: Is a First Junior award a lifetime award, or does it get revoked after a period of years? The question of reverting seems to apply to one-time Senior cars. This is not the case here. I plan to enter this car in the Senior class in June. Will I have to have some kind of documentation of the earlier Junior award or will AACA records be sufficient?
Steve Moskowitz
Ok,if I am reading you right this time. This is a car you have owned since it won a First Junior!!?? Now 40+ years later you want to enter it as a Senior car, right? Is this the ultimate case of procrastination? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Seriously, it is great that you are bringing the car back out again and I am sure everyone will love to see it. We do have records here going back all the way to 1952. Please call Peggy in our office 717-524-1910 or email me and we can find your info out. If you do not have a car badge for your First Junior, we can make one up for $10.00. Yes, the simple answer is that the First junior is a Lifetime Award but after 10 years the vehicle can be recirculated all over again. We do not revoke status on a car based upon time.Oops, my reading is bad! I now see (thanks to a smart alecky guy near here) that I mis-read your post. Ok, let's try this again. Your car presently is a First Junior and is elegible to compete for a Senior, as stated above. The badge is still available for purchase and we can determine the year and place where your car won if you give us the previous owner's name.
