1965 Buick lighter - silly question

I have what may be a silly question.

I just got a new lighter base for my '65 wcat. The old unit was shot. I noticed that the rear of the lighter base (I believe it's the lighter fuse) has a threaded end. Is there a piece that screws onto the base before hooking up the 12v feed? The wire fits but it seems loose. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Greg

There should be a fuse that screws into the threaded part on the male end of the back of the lighter. Then the hot wire plugs into the fuse. I don't think they make these fuses anymore unless you happen to have one. If you don't I think you could squeeze the female end of your hot wire a little and push it on the back of the lighter and use it that way.

Thanks for replying. The fuse came attached to the wire. Perhaps the female plug justs needs to be squeezed as you recommended.

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing a piece. I don't smoke, but hopefully I can now charge my cell phone in the car!

Thanks again
