65_wcat
I have what may be a silly question. I just got a new lighter base for my '65 wcat. The old unit was shot. I noticed that the rear of the lighter base (I believe it's the lighter fuse) has a threaded end. Is there a piece that screws onto the base before hooking up the 12v feed? The wire fits but it seems loose. Am I missing something? Thanks.Greg
shart
There should be a fuse that screws into the threaded part on the male end of the back of the lighter. Then the hot wire plugs into the fuse. I don't think they make these fuses anymore unless you happen to have one. If you don't I think you could squeeze the female end of your hot wire a little and push it on the back of the lighter and use it that way. 65_wcat
Thanks for replying. The fuse came attached to the wire. Perhaps the female plug justs needs to be squeezed as you recommended.I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing a piece. I don't smoke, but hopefully I can now charge my cell phone in the car! Thanks again
JohnD1956
I thought the female wire just attached to this end, but make sure there is a fuse. I don't think it would be in your best interest to leave a lighter without one.JD
