Do you guys know how easy it is to get a National Award at Philly? If you've ever been to the Awards ceremony in Philly, you know how it seems to go on and on and then towards the end after all of the "Car Awards" are given out, you get to the special "Service Awards". These awards are named after a special person or persons that the surviving family wants to commemorate with an endowment in the name of their family member that is given to an outstanding member of the AACA for services going above and beyond the call of duty, as they say in Virginia. NOTE, If I got some of this wrong, I'm sure someone can straighten me out.

Not to blow my horn here, but I received the Ann S. Eady Award this year at the National Meeting. I'm proud of it. I can think of a few other members who are in line to get this award. Now, who is Ann S. Eady? The big question! I am now researching Mrs. Eady to tell you more about her in the future.

The point to all of this "running on at mouth" is that there is another award given out each year at Philly that's hardly even competed for. Pat Buckley of Hershey told me today that the I. C. Kirkham Award had very little competition this year. This award is for a Region or Chapter with the greatest membership gain during the year. In other words, if you picked up a lot of new members during the year, you may be able to win this award. I think Pat said there were only about 8-10 Regions that even filled out the form for this competition last year. Check out this stuff people, you too can win an award for your Region or yourself just by doing a little background work. Ask anyone of your members who went to the awards Show this year to let you see the "program". It lists all of the awards given out this year. If you have any questions, call Headquarters, they'd love to hear from you. Wayne

Above message from Pat. Well I got part of it right! Also notice that Kim Miller is looking for info regarding the Reliability Tour noted above. Thanks, Pat and Kim. Wayne

Regarding research about Anne Eady, you can save a lot of time by contacting Nancy Wright (last address I have from the AACA roster is in Cleveland, GA). Nancy is a member of the Southeastern Region and as I recall succeeded Anne as editor of that Region's newsletter.

Thanks Ron, Alan Woolf from that region is helping me too. Researching our past members can be fun, but time consuming. John Myer is going through this with his "past Presidents" research. He still has some missing info on some of our AACA Presidents. Wayne
