technoweenie
It appears a common problem with power windows is the guide breaking loose from the glass. When that happens, the window jams when being raised (unless one holds the guide in place as the window goes up). Other posts have echoed what the service manual says... the entire window glass must be replaced. If that's the case, I've nothing to lose by trying to rebond the guide to the glass. Has anyone successfully done that? If so, what did you use? I tried a conventional two-part epoxy but it only held for a few days. The only adhesive I can think of in a similar application is what's used to bond inside rearview mirror mountings to the windshield. I don't know, however, if that adhesive has any working time.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Rattaboy
The epoxy gets so hard it is brittle and cannot take stress. Surely there is some adhesive out there that will do the job. Perhaps one of the silicones from a auto parts store and it would be affordable.
Howard
I would think an auto glass shop would be able to rebond the guide. Just a thought.
Jim
From my experience the little "T" cannot be rebonded back on. I do have replacement windows at reasonable prices.I will be back home tomorrow and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
