StevieG
I need to remove the rear wheels on my '30 DD, does anyone know where I can get a wheel puller that will fit? Thanks Stephen
JB-ed
In the Flea Market section of the magazine about a year ago, maybe 18 months, a guy in the south advertised that he would make any size you want if you give him the thread or send hubcap or whatever. About $65. I got one for Victory and it's great.
FMF
Do yourself a favor and have a wheel puller fabricated.I tried for months to remove the rear wheels on my 1925 DB.Finally, I had a machine shop make me a puller - just provide them with the hubcap so they can match the threads. It screws on to the hub. A nut is welded in the center --- off comes the wheel as you screw in the bolt.Good Luck.
jake1960
Can anyone who has one please post a picture of their puller?I bought a vintage nut type thingy off eBay. Says to screw it on the axle threads, raise opposite side of car and pound on it to loosen wheel. I haven't tried it yet so I can't say how it would work or how it should work. Thanks,Jake
Jim Anselmo
I had a heck of a time on my 27 Fast Four as well. I finally fabricated a puller based on some info I found on the Durant web site (http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/durant/). Go to the Special Interest Section and then click on the Wheel Puller link. Hope it helps.Jim
jake1960
Hi Jim,There's some great info (and pictures) about making a wheel puller there! Thanks for the tip. Do you know if the grease gun threads are the size needed for Dodge Brothers autos? I have a 1929 DA.Thanks,Jake
Jim Anselmo
I was able to use a grease gun that I found at the local Goodwill. I don't know if the thread size is the same on your DA as my Fast Four though, I probably just lucked out and got a gun that worked... I'll try to measure the thread pitch and diameter of the grease gun I used this weekend.Jim
