29StudiePrez
Just a quick note to congratulate Kevin Wise of Elk Grove California who just recently completed a ground-up restoration of his 1929 GE Dictator Cabriolet. His first public showing of this car was on June 6th at the Silverado Concours De'Elegance where he took 1st place in his class, received "Best Antique Non-Classic" and beat out a field of over 300 cars for "Best of Show". His second showing was June 13th at the Shriners Hospital Concours De'Elegance where he again took 1st place in his class and beat the rest of the field of cars for "Best of Show". It will be interesting to see how he does at the Palo Alto Concours De'Elegance at Stanford University on June 27th. I mention all of this because it is nice to see a common man's Studebaker can be restored in your own garage, with no profession help, painted in the driveway and beat some of the most expensive and elite cars shown at a concours. It is encouraging for all of us out here with Studebakers, and also shows that you don't need the most expensive car or the top of the line model to take center stage at an event.Good luck Kevin, and once again congratulations on a job well done restoring your Studebaker and preserving history in motion.Pre-Restoration photo of this car;http://www.antiquestudebakerclub.com/studebaker_Dictator1929Cabriolet.jpgPhoto taken at concours;http://www.softcom.net/users/huston/2004mareisland/silveradoconcourse07.jpg
George Rohrbach
Beautiful. That car may be the finest resurrection of a junk car that I have ever seen! Looking at the original picture .. I am at a loss for words. To start with so little, and end up with a superb Studebaker.
