Early Taperd springs &spring clamps needed,who makes them new??

Who makes the forged square edged spring to axle clamps new? also looking for spring shop that makes tapered spring leaves,for early cars 1905-1910 vintage.Thank You MIKE

Mikewest, if you can't find tapered leaf springs, straight ones can be machined to a taper.

Detroit-Eaton (Or is it Eaton-Detroit) Springs on Michigan Avenue in Detroit Michigan will custom make tapered (and square leaf) springs for any type of car. Ask for Mike. You can find their ads in Hemmings, etc. or look them up. They have made several different types of springs for me as well as made the new tapered leaf rear springs for the new Model Ts Ford Motor Company a couple of years ago.-GZ

Hi Mike,

Check with MaDonald Spring in Rochester, NY, (585) 254-3342.

They did some work on our Packard springs and showed me some early springs that they had made.

Also, I have a reference to a Stanley Spring Works in Harrisburg, PA. that does this work.
