Greetings.

Thanks for all the time and energy you all put into this place as a group and as individual posters sharing your knowledge about old cars. And thanks to the AACA for making this site available.

I've been reading here for what seems like forever, but probably a year or two? The place is a gold mine of info and entertainment.

Anyhow, I finally got around to registering so I could post here. I don't have anywhere near the level of knowledge I've seen shared here, but hopefully I can contribute a bit now and then.

Oh, yeah.... cars. Well I have a box of parts that were once a 68 VW Beetle sedan and a I have a 73 VW Panel for my daily driver .... Don't ask why. Ok, if your going to twist my arm like that, I'll tell you.

The sedan is because I drove one when they were brand new and really enjoyed it. 10,000 miles in the first 30 days. No, I don't want to do that again, but when I saw the identical car a few years ago, well I just snapped and bought it.

So this spring I went out looking for a few parts and came home with the Transporter Panel. What can I say. On the other hand I spend a lot of time hanging around old car shows taking photos and talking to folks about their.

I'm not sure I have a "favorite". I pretty much like all old cars.

But this thread was supposed to be about thanking you folks for being here and sharing what you know, so

Thanks again!

You are certainly welcome, Ken! And Welcome to the Forum. As you have noted this is a great bunch of men and women all interested in cars of all kinds. I love the VW and have owned several with the same, happy results. Any opinion or information you have is something we can all enjoy and share. I am just a user but I have come to really enjoy these verbal romps.

Welcome to the forum bro. I got a ton of technical manuals on VeeDubs. Let me know if you need something looked up, photocopied and mailed etc. This place is a blast and you're gonna love it.

Another spirited WELCOME! to you. There is so much info in her, not to mention the many good people too. (Oh wait, did I mention that? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />) I have met a few face to face, and a few only via email. I wouldn't know most if I ran 'em over, most have a lot to offer and some are lurkers. We all love dem cars!

I have never had more than a passing interest in V-dubs not to say I don't like them (I do). I like to oddball cars as my name here will attest to. A typical VW can kick my Amphicar's a$$ (until the shoreline)!

Show us what ya got! (please?) <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

John

Ampicar;

Every time I see your car photo I smile. I had a chance a couple of years ago to chat with a fellow who was showing his 62 Amphicar, the stories he told about the car and his experiences with it were great.

There's something magical about the concept of driving a car right into the lake and keeping on going.

These cars do that! They just make you smile! I have a few stories myself.

Ahh, the real trick is to drive back <span style="font-weight: bold">out</span> of the water! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Amphicar;

Let me apologize for misspelling your name. I really need to practice paying attention.

Thanks for the welcome Randall and Euro.

Welcome. Glad to see another VW owner here. My '56 Type I just recieved its Senior tab this year at Carlisle in the spring. If you are not a member of the AACA I would say join, get your vehicle in shape and enter a AACA event.

My wife and I have a better time at these shows than any we attend. People are very friendly.

I am also a newbie as far as the number of posts go. I lurked for quite some time before being brave enough to post.

Ken_B - Apology accepted, but not needed at all! My name is spelled "JOHN" (with an "H" if you please). People mis-spell Amfi... ampi...amfibi..amphicar (that it! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />) all the time. I knew who you meant. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
