Jolly_John
Hi. Does anyone have a source for dark brown wrinkle paint....preferably in a spray can? I want to do the heater in my '39 Buick. By the way, the brown wrinkle paint sold by Eastwood is way too light for my needs. Thanks, John in Wisconsin drjjkoot@g2a.net
Guest DeSoto Frank
Try American Classic truck parts; they specialize in parts for 1936-'72 Chevy & GMC trucks. My 1936 Chevy pick-up had its dash painted with a dark brown wrinkle paint, and I'm pretty sure American Classic carried it in spray bombs.Another option: can to go over the wrinkle with a dark brown lacquer of the appropriate color ?Hope this helps a bit....Frank
Peter J.Heizmann
Hi, John...Just my experience to pass on to you. When I had my car re-painted in 1999, I asked Jim Lewis, an old friend who did the work, where/if, I could obtain a spray balm exactly mixed to match the body. I wanted to do some engine area work.Jim gave me the numbers off the old quart cans he used on the body. Went to the place where he bought it. No problem. They told me to wait 20 minutes, went into their computer, mixed the batch, and, "canned" the paint. All cities of any significance, have auto paint suppliers catering to auto body shops. Maybe you could take the original heater to them to match up, or, take as much data so they could research it?Regards, Peter J.
