This image is described as "Motorist" Carl Fisher on the Harlem Race Track (Forest Park, IL) 1904. Note it is an inline 8 cylinder engine! Must have been a thriller to try to tame. Stude8

Brakes? .... maybe <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Safty equipment? ... HUH? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Those guys had brass ones (not lamps!) for sure!
