Jolly_John
As many of you know, Buick began the 1939 model year with a stub frame on the Specials and Centurys. Most of the car body behind the rear axle was supported simply by the bumper brackets. This turned out to by a poor system and Buick shifted to a full frame later in the '39 production run. HERE IS MY QUESTION: Does anybody know anything about a stub frame reinforcement "kit" that was offered by Buick for dealers to strenghen the existing early '39 Special and Century stub frames? Thanks for any help. Best, John in Wisconsin
Mrbuick714
When I worked in a Buick dealerskip before WWII.there were kits to reinforce early 39 frames. All I can say,is keep looking, someone will come up with one. Try Wheatbelt,(Ads in Bugle) and Steve Ehrlich,Great Bend Kansas. Both of these are fine persons, very sharp on the product, and the best to deal with. Ralph Crisp
palbuick
Hi JohnHave you tried any Buick Service buletins from 1938-39-40.Usually the factory service bulletins had service and part numbersfor items like this, and were not published in a standard parts book.I have a 40 service bulletin book and could find nothing about the sub framesJim Schilf
