Why did 20+ members quit the Gateway (St.Louis) Chapter?

I've heard that about 20+ members quit the Gateway (St Louis) BCA chapter and was wondering what was going on.

I hear it involves ONE member who stirred things up the group. This is pretty sad to lose that many over one person! You'd think they would get rid of him/her instead of losing so many good members.

Since I'm on the 'west coast' of Missouri (KC), I wanted to ask my neighbors to the east (St. Louis) what was going on.

Could this effect the 2004 Regional?

Geez guys I hate to see posts like this, they are so contentious! I recently affiliated with this chapter and made my first meeting yesterday while they celebrated their chapter's 25th anniversary. We were a bit late because of traffic but once arriving they made us feel very welcome. We had a great time there and look forward to going back again. We live in the SW part of the state so it is a chore to get there. THIS IS A GREAT BUNCH OF PEOPLE!

Thank you for chiming in Bob! It was a pleasure meeting you last night at Hank's place. We had a pretty good turnout for the 25th Anniversay party, which was nice to see.

I can't think of ONE person that could turn that many people away. People make choices, and we will leave it at that. I'm pretty sure I would've noticed 20 empty chairs. I couldn't agree with Bob anymore aobut the people in the club! This is why is joined.

I spent the better part of 6 months deciding if I should join or not. It took just one meeting and I was hooked.

I can become very defensive about people I like or care about, but I also have mind to keep my mouth shut. Be careful of what you hear. Rumors can ruin relationships. I don't want this to become a pissing contest either. Let's move on.

Rumors such as that are always bad to hear about! The problem is that if there is any truth of what might have happened, you'll never hear both sides of it to determine what went on OR if anything went on at all.

Car club rosters will rise and fall at times. People have varying reasons why they joined in the first place too. The key thing is to have a great group of core members that will be around to keep things going in a positive direction well into the future. Sounds like things are still running fine up there.

Enjoy!
