  1. I worked for TWA in St. Louis and heard the 'ol timers talk about H.H. walking up to the gate agent and telling the agent he was taking the plane (cancelled flight). The people in the gate would put their noses to the glass and watch as HH would start up the plane and drive away. At night when nobody was around (you know how secretive he was), he'd use his Buick to power up the engines on the planes and take off in the middle of the night. The stories these ol' guys had about Howard. It's history now. And yes "Keith"...I agree HH was after that V8 engine but also wanted the style of the Roadmaster. He had great taste didn't he ;-)
  2. I owned a 1972 Blazer and my Dad owned the 1972 1 ton pickup (we bought at the same time for a better 'bundle' deal). I remember them rusting faster than any other model (something with the paint process or something). BUT - by now (2005), if you find one and it was cared for it should have been repaired/painted over. Watch for bondo directly over each fender. Check around your local classic car/truck clubs to see if anyone has a 1970's truck that you can get pointers from. I know before I bought my 53 GMC I researched the h-ll out of the Internet and asked questions at my car club. Beware of ebay (know what to look for and ask tons of questions of the seller before laying out bucks 'over the internet'). Good Luck!
  3. I ordered this print and also the card set and can't say enough about this artist. Truly captured the front end of my 1953 Buick! Fellow 1953ers - Here is the link to the information 1953 Buick Artwork

I'll create more in the coming months....stay tuned.
  5. Okay... I also own a 1953 GMC 5-window pickup. Amazing that you have one as well. Then you know what it's like to hop in a vehicle as old as you are start it up and cruise down the street. One super K@@L feeling. Enjoy!
  6. I was waiting to see how long it would take for someone to correct the type of car in the photo. Yes...it is a 1903 MARR not a Buick. I zoomed in on my original photo before I cropped it for this posting. I noticed the true name then. GREAT CATCH! Give that man a ceeeegar! (yes, you could call this item #15....in a sneaky way)
  7. Have you been out to the "Collectable Automobile Photo Post"??? L@@K what I found with your name alllll over it. I know you will do some drawing with the nose of your '53 sticking out of it What is even cooler is to look at the people in the crowd on their toes to get a better look at the car. Today it takes a LOT more to turn their heads (unless it's a cool concept car). HIGH-TECH BUICK FLOAT IN A PARADE
  8. Reason Will has not be on lately is his band was on 'tour' around the U.S.A. and between his job and the band.....time is 0. He said he is going to start to work on 'Naomi' (1953) again (his #1 goal). He is a VERY talented artist! STARVING ARTISTS NEED TO EAT FOLKS! Commission him to do a painting or drawing for you! His contact information is listed in his resume. My favorite is his style of paintings. Will - loved the '51 you did on your website. (I'm still going to talk to the sisters who own the shop in Brookside about your work. Let me know what you have on hand and I'll let them know) Anything to help out a fellow '53er'. GET THAT LADY ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Okay....I'll admit to it. I 'still' grab that Highlight Magazine in the Dr. or dentist's office and go right to that section and find the missing things in the drawing or that other one with the hidden things within the drawing. Now as an adult (yeah right), I time myself to see how long it takes me to complete it. You know people with classic cars and our 'classic' brains....got to keep them "sharp". (Tommy....nobody goes to the 'modified' section and they'd miss the fun ) I've got some other 'fun' things up my sleeve that I'll post in the coming weeks to keep ya busy while the vehicles are stored.
  10. Tom E - Kansas City MO 1953 Buick Roadmaster
  11. Go out to this posting and see if you can find the 14 missing items..... 1903 Buick
  12. Glad you found them all. I've been toying with doing this for awhile and since it's raining today, I thought I'd tackle it. When they put this 1903 on display that day, it made my day. People came like bees to honey ;-) Have a great day.
  13. Another view of the ambulance.
  14. Here is a photo I took of a Buick Ambulance at the Minnesota "Back To The 50s Weekend" 2004. BTW...it was for sale at this show.
  15. Here is a photo of the 1903 Buick I took at the Buick 100th in Flint. You know those photos in magazines where they show you the original and then another one and you have to find the missing items in the photo? Compare the ORIGINAL photo to the other photo posted and look for -14- things missing in the second photo. ______ORIGINAL PHOTO___________ ----------This Photo Missing 14 Things From Original Photo-------------- HOLD OFF POSTING ANSWERS (LET OTHER FIND THEM FIRST). I'll post the listing in a few days for everyone to get a chance to view this. (Ya know I'm bored in the midwest with nothin' to do. COME ON SPRING) Oh...if you recognize anyone in the photo....tell them about this. (And don't tell me you know who's butt that is on the left )
