In the first frame that shows up you can see divison street running though Buick at an angle. At the bottom of the picture on the left is a square building. That is the north end of Buick City.Everything north of that is the remaining part of the Buick complex which still has dozens of buildings.Scroll dn to see the area south of that street that is all gone now. When in Flint Stop by to see many pictures of this area, before & after. When I bought my 1953 two years ago it came with ALL the original paperwork. One item is a map of Flint that Buick sent to the buyer of my car. They were inviting him to come to Flint to walk along the assembly line to watch (my car) being built. The map shows this area from the aerial photo.

I'm printing out this photo to keep with my documentation.

This is pretty cool to see where my car was built.

I spoke to the son of the original owner and he made this trip to Flint with his 72 year old dad to pick up the 1953 Roadmaster. The son was 31 at the time and they walked along the assembly line and he said he remembered at one point the roof opened up and the body was lowered down and the guys attached it to the frame. At the end of the line they handed them the keys and they drove off to Spokane, WA. The son is now 81 and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was so happy to hear that his dad's car is still running strong and being looked after.

With my trip back to Flint, 50 years later to where it was built is pretty amazing in itself. (How many cars built today will be able to do this?)

Tom, that's a real cool story about your car! I spent some time looking at the shots of Sloan, took me a while to see that the roof of Sloan is white on the west have and black on the east half. Guess I should have gone up that ladder Monday when I had to chance when we were check out where to put our Ham Radio antenna's for the Special Event station, more on that later. Thanks for the link!

Tom,I had the first Air-Conditioned 1953 Roadmaster to hit Kansas City,in fact I had one before the Zone Manager had one (I was the guy who went around to teach the mechanics how to service them) We had classes at Jerry Smiths dealership on Troost Street That was a "COOL" Roadmaster!
