We have a 1930 Cadillac 4 door sedan (not sure the model yet, keep reading) and we want to get the groups feedback on where the heck we can locate the vin tag or a vin number on this unit. Unfortunately, a long time ago, engine was replaced with a small block so we cannot go by that. edinmass Posted 1 hour ago Share Posted 1 hour ago There is no such thing as a VIN number on any pre war car. It would only have two places to pull number off of. The original 353 CID V-8 engine on the lower crankcase……..or the body tag on the firewall. If repowered the chance the body tag is missing is high. It’s likely even with the body tag number you have a steep hill to climb to work backwards from the tag and getting the build sheet. Just post a few photos of the exterior and interior…..especially the back seat area. We can easily identify it. From a historical standpoint……the repower with a modern engine takes it out of most collectors hands……..very few people want a Caddy sedan with a modern engine. I still has terrible brakes, steering, and suspension……..and unless totally upgraded the modern powerplant is a severe detriment to its operating envelope. Basically a 70hp car new with a 70hp chassis design. Toss in a 250 ho modern engine and you have a very dangerous vehicle going down the road with a stock chassis.
