How to Decode and Identify PRE-WAR Buick 7 digits VIN number vehicles

VIN Number - 2583402

VIN Number - 2758455

VIN did not exit until 1981 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_identification_number

What you have is the chassis serial number.  Just sequential and not coded

Look in your post where I posted an extract from a Buick Parts Manual

https://forums.aaca.org/topic/415337-buick-owner-from-sri-lanka/#comment-2678415

2583402  - 1931

2758455  - 1934

For the 1934 does it have a cowl ~ firewall data plates, like on the 1931?

You would get better answers if you asked your questions in 1 thread.

The 1934 is not as made by Buick. That back door has been added.  May have been type 47 or 57 slant back. Probably did not have a built in trunk, as that would be a lot harder to modify.

Suggest you measure the wheel base (on both sides)  117 119 or 128 inches

Do you have an engine photo, from both sides.

Reasonably sure is 40 series from the hood trim - 3 ribs.  Series 50 has 4 ribs

115.25" is close to 117" Probably sagging worn suspension.

Engine 42918587

First digit 4= 40 series

next are the sequential numbers. So 1934.  In one of your other threads post info from BCA judging manual on the numbers

And https://www.teambuick.com/reference/ident_engine_til_52.php   Unsure where they get the first 1935 engine serial number from.

Are 95% certain this engine serial numbers has been re-stamped.  Expect Buick would have stamped neatly in a straight line.

For the later 1930's Buick used capital letter I as digit 1, letter b as digit 6 and inverted letter b as digit 9.  But unsure when this was started

Do you have the rest on the engine parts and radiator?

The engine may be later.  If is was 1939 or later the inlet manifold would be different.  But can mix and match some parts of his era

Back passenger seat gone in the transformation to a hearse or station wagon?
