Tonz
I have done this to my 1949 BSA bike about 30 years ago and has worked well. Now after going through my spares I found this remote oil filter unit, and now I'm playing with the idea of fitting it onto my 1926 Chrysler 50 which has external oil lines to the sump. Fitting would be easy with a 4" hole cut through the stone guard, and a join into one of the oil lines. Just looking for your thoughts... I would fit it to the pressure line rather than the suction line. And with the filter in the system I could change to modern detergent oils. Currently I change my oil and remove and wash the sump every Christmas as the non detergent oils recommended for my engine use the sludge accumulation in the sump to trap impurities. My two pics show the BSA setup, and my spare oil pump with the said remote oil filter.. Your thoughts please...
Mark Shaw
My thought is that you really don't need to modify an engine that lasted this long without it. And, you don't need to clean the pan every year.
