M1842
I am just about ready to reinstall my intake manifold and I have a couple questions. The old gaskets came out loose without any trace of sealer. I have an NOS set of stainless steel gaskets. Should they be installed dry or with some kind of sealer? The manifold and carburetor make a hefty load, I was thinking about making 4 pins from bolts to guide the gaskets and manifold back into place. Sound like a good idea?
old-tank
I use the pins and apply a thin coat of high temp RTV to the gasket. 2

M1842
I got it back on. Ended sliding the assembly down a 2x4. My right arm didn't have the strength to lift up and forward. But it worked well with the pins. I finished up reconnecting wires and checked that the starter would turn when I pressed the accelerator pedal. Of course at first, it was totally dead. Got the multi meter out and found that the new spade connector I had put on the power side of the vacuum switch was dead. Cut the old connector off and fitted a new one and all was good. Pressed the pedal and the starter turned. Small victories! Mark Edited June 25 by M1842 (see edit history)
