Richard805
So if my car is on jack stands, the tires spin in drive and reverse. If the car is on the ground, it doesn’t move at all. Can anybody help?
Rusty_OToole
Have you checked the Fluid Drive? If it is very low on fluid it won't drive. Could also be a burned out clutch. Do you have Fluid Drive or Fluid Torque Drive? 1953 Fluid Torque Drive fills from the engine oil supply. Fluid Drive is filled separately from inside the car. Most New Yorkers were Fluid Torque Drive. It should say on the shift quadrant. Edited October 24, 2023 by Rusty_OToole (see edit history)
Rusty_OToole
You have to shift into gear, release the clutch fully then step on the gas, before the car will move.
