Rata Road
I picked this up today. I'm hoping somebody has one of these. Its got "Millennium" embossed on one end and "Garage Jack" on the other. I've been soaking in oil since I got home and working away at getting it moving. I've got the wheels to turn and the jacking mechanism to work but there is a lever on the base and I guess the entire body slides up to get more height but its still frozen. Its quite usable the way I have it but... Question is- does the entire body slide up/down?
R Walling
That is one definitely one for the museum!
Rata Road
I intend to use it. I can preset the height of the yoke and it has a real long handle so I can reach under the diff housing without getting on the floor. Much easier! With some items we have moved backwards over time.
dodge28
Can you get a container large enough to fit the entire jack minus the handle ? Put it in there and fill it with use motor oil. Leave for about 2 weeks. It will help soften the rust. When the parts move , wash with Varsol and wire brush.
Rata Road
I agree Dodge I was just about to look for a container as I have some Diesel on hand. Now to find something to fit it in.....
rocketraider
If there are Walmart in New Zealand they should have a reasonably sturdy plastic storage container that jack will fit in. Any idea how old the jack is? Is it fully mechanical or is there a hydraulic cylinder hidden in the works somewhere? I think it's pretty cool piece myself especially since you intend to use it. Rata Road
Ive currently got it standing on its head in a plastic bucket of Diesel. Should do the trick. Straight mechanical, very simple and easy to operate. I'm looking forward to using it. Found some info on the net, apparently 1920's - 1930's. Perfect era & fit for most of my cars. No Walmart's here unfortunately in NZ. When we tour the US I shop at them most days, great food prices plus easy to find stuff as most shops are laid out the same. Thanks
