My 89 TC has a 4-cyl, 2.2L, 8 valve engine, I'm in the process of removing the cylinder head in order to replace the attached intake/exhaust manifold gasket.  I have totally isolated the engine cylinder head (removed all attached components, disconnected all electrical wiring, coolant hoses, disconnected exhaust pipe, etc) After removing head bolts and connecting hoist, I was able to lift the head only about an inch off the engine block but no further, apparently there is still something still connecting the head to the block but after looking everywhere I could not find what is preventing the head from lifting totally off the block, checked my blue service manual for help but to no avail, would appreciate any and all help/suggestions in solving this problem.
