firecars
I have a 1948 Chevrolet Woodie, how can I tell who built it? I understand there were at least 2 companies that built the wood bodies on the chassis. I've noticed in pictures some rear windows have a divider in the glass, mine does not, does that help determine the builder?
NewOldWood
According to my info Ionia built almost all 48 Chevys, the few that were built by Cantrell were special order. Cantrell bodies had a lower door rib and the spare tire was under the rear floor instead of on the tailgate so did not have a split rear bumper.
8E45E
The firewall tag should state who built it; either Fisher Body, or Ionia. Fisher did build some Chevrolet and Pontiac wood bodies for a few years. Craig
