I came across this picture yesterday of SD's introduction in 1908.

The stunt was the brain child of Carl Fisher, most famous for building the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

This awaits you in 7 + months at the Eastern Fall AACA extravaganza car show, flea market, and chocoholic festival. It is the new way that detail of the chassis of cars on show will be judged for authenticity , cleanliness and the bottoms of the tires much more easily inspected. No points deducted for water and oil drips on the foreheads of people who are the inspectors.
