What is this V8?

Saw this ad for an older (circa late 1950s-early 60s?) Onan 50kw generator powered by a gasoline V8 that I cannot identify. The valve covers with four center bolts, dual upper radiator hoses, and front distributor should give it away, but it isn't any GM engine I can identify, not Ford or Chrylser either. At first I thought perhaps Studebaker, but no. Not REO or IH either. Valve layout in the heads appears to be EIIEEIIE, if that helps. Note that's a propane carb added by Onan on top of the original 2BBL, so don't read anything into that.

Nailed it! Thanks. I was only thinking about the IH 304 as used in the Scout.
