6T-FinSeeker
For sale on Craigslist: 1955 Packard 400 2-door Hardtop in Olympia, WA - $19,500 - Call Ted: 360 464 32 eight eight Link: https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/d/olympia-packard-400-coupe-1955/7537948562.html Seller's Description: 1955 Packard 400 2-door Hardtop condition: excellent cylinders: 8 cylinders transmission: automatic odometer: 140,000 paint color: black & white title status: clean This is a 1955 Packard Four Hundred Coupe in very good drivable condition. I'm selling this car for an elderly relative in Eastern Washington. I just drove it back to my home in Olympia 225 miles no problems, cruising at 70mph. I put the title in my name to make it easier to sell. Fully loaded with everything except for AC and I think it all works. Power seats, power windows, power steering, power brakes, power antennae, factory radio, Automatic transmission. It has a very unique torsion bar suspension front and rear with a self leveler feature that works great. New white wall Coker Tires just last year. They owned the car since 1994 and it has been pretty much trouble free but they have made some nice upgrades. The interior has been completely redone in the exact duplicate of the original material that had to be custom made. The radiator is aluminum and the alternator upgraded. It was a hot day driving it back and no problems with overheating. After I got it home I went through it and looked for any possible problems. The gas gauge now works after I pulled the tank and put in a new sending unit, at this time I had the tank professionally cleaned and painted. I replaced the plugs and put on new plug wires. All that was left to do was to top off all the fluids. Don't know the complete history but I do notice that the engine has been upgraded to 1956 engine of the same size. In 1956 Packard upgraded the heads with bigger valves and higher compression to give it 15 more hp. I think this upgrade to second year V8 is a nice one. I did not see any sign of smoke on the way home, the engine runs very smooth and even. Transmission works great. I know from the records the speedometer turned over and it looks like just over 140,000 miles, and well maintained. I have factory repair shop manual and owners manual. Asking $19,500, it will not be a waste of your time to come and see it. Located in NE Olympia. B Jake Moran
Very nice but at 140,000 miles is it priced too high? In the late 50s if s car like this would have had 70,000 miles it would be considered worn out. With good records, I would go $12,000. Yes the interior is beautiful and thankfully someone did it correctly but that’s part of ownership and enjoyment- the costs should not all be passed onto a new owner.
