EconoJoe
I've got a few minor detail questions concerning an original bumper jack and storage for someone with a very original 55 Super / Roadmaster: 1) Does the bumper adapter shown look correct? Using an instruction card purchased from Cars it fits the rear well but won't make it into the front slot as shown. 2) It looks to me like the jack base should be held against the spare with the hold down bolt. Was there a big wing nut for this? 3) I've got what looks like the original spring setup to hold the jack down but the proper storage location for the bumper adapter and tire iron isn't clear. Is my picture anywhere close to correct? I realize that once stored none of this stuff will probably ever be taken out. I'm just trying to get it in correctly once. Last question: Were the original jack instructions really on a loose piece of card stock in 1955 or should it be on a sticker inside the trunk? Thanks in advance for any sense of direction on this. avgwarhawk
The bolt with hooked end is threaded through the center of the wheel. The black steel foot for the jack has a hole to thread the hooked bolt through. Secure with the nut. If you need a picture let me know. I'll take a picture of mine.
