1950 Buick Super Inside Rearview Mirror

Folks:

 

The mirror in my 1950 Buick Super has become cloudy and simply looks bad. It is a day/night mirror and has the words 'Guide Glare-Proof' on the adjuster

tab at the bottom of the mirror. The dimensions of the mirror are 7 3/16" x 2 3/4".

 

I looked at the interior rearview mirrors on Old Buick Parts for '1950 Super', but all of the ones that pop up look significantly wider. When doing a Google search for '1950 Buick Super inside rearview mirror' a broad array of mirrors pop up (none, unfortunately, that look like the mirror in my car!)

 

Does anyone know if there is a reproduction of the mirror I have in my car offered by anyone? Is there a part number for this mirror I can use to help narrow the

search options?

If I remember correctly, the mirror comes apart and you can either re silver the omirror or just replace it.  I had that done 20 years ago as I could not find a good reproduction.

Thanks Bill, I will take a look and see if there is a way to fix the mirror.

 

I have never done this before… are there shops that specialize in restoring mirrors?

Yes, normally they do antiques but a mirror is a mirror to them.
You have to make sure that they can do day/night mirrors though as the glass is tapered.
