Mars
Still trying to figure out the bouncing needle. Can the sending unit be installed wrong?
hchris
Highly likely the sender unit has a dirty wiper arm or bad earth. But with your limited description, makes it hard to judge. Or maybe I missed something ?
Mars
30 Desoto cf. I replaced the wiring harness and have a great schematic. The gauge worked previously but now bounces. It settles a bit while driving but not dependable.I’ve taken the sending unit out and it seems to operate ok. I probably should check out the new wire. I’m assuming it’s good. Mars
I’ve taken the float/sending unit out. It seems to operate smoothly . But I can’t see inside,of course. When the car is at rest, I get a reading on the gauge. But once there’s movement the needle jumps around. Are replacement sending units available? Or can I take mine apart to inspect? It’s nice to have a working gas gauge. Thanks for your help.
Fossil
Try installing a temporary ground wire from the body to the battery and see if that makes a difference.
