Mark Muckensturm
1957 Rambler Custom. Need to remove horn ring on steering wheel. I've heard push and turn counter clockwise but that doesn't seem to help. I certainly don't want to risk breaking it. Thanks. Here is a 1957? button that looks to be held in place by a rubber seal....https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Rambler-Horn-Button-Push-Blue/233816897970?hash=item367092b9b2:g:p0oAAOSwPaNdA9j8
Mark Muckensturm
I’m not sure. The horn will not blow. It must be the switch inside the steering wheel. Is that just a cap that needs to come off or the whole ring?
Guest
Why not scroll down and post this question in the Nash and Rambler section. I think you would get a better/quicker response there. https://forums.aaca.org/forum/52-american-motors-amc-nash-rambler/
AL1630
I'm not sure about a 57, but my 63 has the switch under a cap in the center of the wheel. The cover is just held in with an O-ring and can be popped out easily. That's probably worth a try before you go further. Edit - Looking more closely at the photo keiser31 posted, the O ring design is almost identical to mine. You should be able to grab the button in the center of the wheel and it should pull straight out, especially if it has an old dry rotten O ring.
