Bill Stoneberg
Martinsr,
Sorry, I just couldn't resist. Me feelings on those are the same as yours.
Its a great looking car.
Are you close to Sears Point and do you ever go to the races up there ?
I have been wanting to go to the Vintage races at some point at time. My brother runs a Alfa F1 and McLearan Can Am car.
How far is it from Sacremento ?
Bill

Guest
Tom, it's a 1964 401.
Bill, Sears point is about an hour and 15 minutes from me and it's about 2 hours and a half from Sac. I am in Fremont and ever since the Fremaont drag strip was shut down in 1988 Sears point is the closest strip. It is about 3 tens slower so I have only raced there a few times. My Gran Sport has never broke into the 13's there so I have no desire to run it.
I used to uncap my headers and put the slicks on, THEN drive to the drags when they were in Fremont. Those were the days!
My brother has never raced the Roadster because they won't let him without a rollbar.
He did the "testing" with a Vercom computer (I think I spelled that right) it is one of those computers that mount to the windshield and it is amazing and VERY accurate according to our tests.
Coming this April 21 & 22 is the Nitro Nationals Nostalgia Drags. If you would like to see 250 MPH Front engine AA Fuelers that will be the place. I used to race my Gran Sport at these events but I found that sitting in the staging lanes for the whole day for two runs wasn't worth it.
But the show is GREAT, the Freight Train twin engine Blown SBC rail smokes the tires the entire 1/4 mile and it really something to see. The inliner club will have a bunch of inline Six and Eight powered dragsters that rival the Jr. Fuel injected 400 SBC rails!! If you can make it you won't be sorry.

------------------
buickfam@aol.com
Life long Buick Fan.
1965 Skylark H/T
1965 Gran Sport Convertible
1948 Chevy Pickup with 401 Buick.
"Fan of most anything that moves human beings"
