Luke Chennell
Hi all, I acquired this 23-6-41 in February from McPherson College. The car is a remarkable original, carrying its original paint and upholstery. When I got it, the (non-functioning) odometer showed just a tad over 9,000 miles. While at the College, we recommissioned the car mechanically, building a new fuel tank, made the vacuum tank work properly, relined the brakes, and generally did any service the car needed. Since acquiring it in February, I've pulled the pan down to take up the bearings (all have plenty of shims and I got them set between .002-.0025"), rebuilt the speedometer and drive system, rebuilt the ignition / light switch and have done some other freshening on small bits. The odometer now shows just a hair over 250 miles for the summer, most of those on Kansas back roads and around our small town. My kids enjoy the car as much as I do, I think. My most recent project was to have a shop do a paint preservation on the car. They were able to significantly improve the condition of the original paint, making it really pop. At the moment I have the trunk for the car being rebuilt by a friend that does upholstery work. I plan on repainting the wheels to make everything look consistent and fresh. The car drives fine but needs a clutch rebuild in the near future. I plan on undertaking that as a winter project. Hope you enjoy seeing the car. I'll post more as I continue to improve and tour with the car. Luke Chennell McPherson, KS 8
Ecampi
Very nice. I recently acquire a 1923 Buick. It had a complete restoration in 1985. I have most of the documentation/pictures. Was then entered in the Challenge America Race that same year. Used in a number of weddings and then stored. I trailered it to my shop in June. Hope to have time this winter to start going through it. I'd be interested in your journey in the last 3 years.
EmTee
Nice looking Buick! The paint really looks good for an original finish. Post some pictures over here: https://forums.aaca.org/forum/221-the-unrestored-car-appreciation-forum/
