nzcarnerd
The woman in the photo is Baroness Maria Antonietta Avanzo. She apparently competed in various motor races over a period of years. There is a wiki page about her. Any guesses what the car in this photo is? That control lever above the wheel must be a clue. I presume it is a pre WW1 American of some sort - but not necessarily. Craig Gillingham
Personally, I think it looks more of an Italian car, particularly with that style of steering wheel and the central control lever. Also, that particular type of touring car body style without doors was typically Italian. Apart from that, I don't know what it is. I can see the photo is dated 1921. Casper Friederich
Baroness Avanzo on an American Classic Car site immediately brings me flashbacks of her driving a big Packard Twin-Six, witch inspired Enzo Ferrari much later on to launch his own V-12 engine. There is also a picture of her behind the steering wheel of an early 20s Buick.https://www.italianways.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/maria-antonietta-avanzo-04.jpg Edited August 13, 2020 by Casper Friederich (see edit history)
nzcarnerd
The answer has appeared - Alfa Romeo 20/30. I haven't translated all of the Italian but I am sure we get the idea.
