1912Staver
Anyone recognize this trans ? Narrow subframe mount. It seems to be a 3 speed and reverse so I don't think it is an aux. box for a truck. It had a rag joint on the front flange and a early universal on the rear. L.H. drive and center shift so about 1915 ? Only markings are a cast in TOP on the front and rear bearing retainers. Someone was using it as an aux box on a home built tractor and they bashed in the base of the shift lever to hold it in 1 St gear. Thanks, Greg Edited August 12, 2020 by 1912Staver (see edit history)
sagefinds
I have a Franklin transmission that has the rag joint in front and flange in rear but the whole case is aluminum. Your trans reminds me of a REO trans I had many years ago,but I can't recall the details. Incidently, with U-joints front and back,it would be pretty easy to turn yours around and in second gear it would be an overdrive,in high direct drive. That's what I plan to do with this Franklin trans.
