chuckfmtexas Posted July 3, 2020 Share Posted July 3, 2020 I am in need of a 69 Riviera tilt CONSOLE steering column and I have found a 70 but don’t know if the 70 is the same as 69 and will work. EmTee Posted July 5, 2020 Share Posted July 5, 2020 I'm not sure what you mean by tilt 'console' steering column, but I'm pretty sure a '70 Riviera steering column will work in a '69. Both would be locking columns with the key in the column. You may need to transfer some pieces (e.g., turn signal switch and/or harness) from one to the other, but I suspect both are mechanically interchangeable. chuckfmtexas Posted July 10, 2020 Author Share Posted July 10, 2020 What I meant by ‘console’ is a column without the gearshift lever on it since the console is the floor shift. I have been wondering if I can take apart the 69 console column that is not useable on the bottom end but could the collar off that column be removed and placed on my existing column by removing the gear shift collar?
