dl456
Hello, I am working on a 1913 Jackson. It has a replacement American Bosch magneto with a impulse starter. Does the impulse need to be "pre loaded" to time the magneto? Does anybody have any published material how this is typically done? I have a Dykes that says to preload and set retarded on TDC. An old tractor manual says to preload and set 5 degrees ATC. I have tried both as well as no preload TDC. I hate to use my last Toyota repair kit on this car. (1/2 stick TNT). Any ideas or help? Thanks, Dennis
Layden B
Maybe this will help.
dl456
Layden, This may be exactly what I need . I considered setting it up backward ( reverse rotation) but I convinced myself this couldn't possibly be correct. Thanks a bunch. I'll let you know the results. dl456
Thanks again to Layden and the forum. Following up as promised. Set it up backwards per the manual. Two pulls cold ( one choke) and first pull warm every time. Schebler model O still a little rich. We're getting closer. Dennis
