skyler
I recently saw the engine compartment on a 1953 Plymouth with the flathead engine. it had a shroud around the radiator. I would like my 54 Windsor with the flathead to have a shroud and was wondering if anyone would know if the Plymouth shroud will fit right in to my Windsor? thanks, dennis
skyler
thanks ply. I do not recall seeing one on these early flatheads until the one on that 53 Plymouth. if it is a stock piece I sure would like to locate one. I did have a 53 Plymouth in high school, but only for a few weeks. I bought it for $10 and used it while my 54 Chrysler was being repaired. then I sold it for $10. those were the days. skyler
Tim Wolfe
Somewhere I read about a place to order a split shell for different fan sizes and radiators. I wish my car had one but I do point shows. Edited May 25, 2020 by Tim Wolfe Spelling error (see edit history)

skyler
C, let me know if it has one. I could take a few measurements on my 54 Windsor to find out if it could fit my car. maybe a picture. dennis

c49er
The shroud is the upper third of the radiator... There are two pieces to it. Brackets on the sides of the radiator attach it in place. I drove this car over 80,000 miles.
skyler
thanks for looking. seems to make sense that it is on the upper half as that is where the hottest water will be.looks like it is attatched to the radby brackets that are welded to the rad. if you are interested in selling it let me know.i would need those brackets too. I suppose I could find one somewhere on the east coast, but still have to pay shipping. just less. only question is what is the measurement of the fan blade from tip to tip? should be the same as my Windsor. looks like a 48 in the background. 48 Plymouth is still one of my favorite cars. stay well . dennis
skyler
I will try some east coast junkyards. should be one somewhere. the brackets look spot welded to the radiator frame. skyler
