I have been able to find very little out about this car since finding it last July. I was wondering if many were sold, and the specs on the car. Thanks a lot and Happy Thanksgiving! The Oldsmobile research was done by the late Dennis Casteele who was at Oldsmobile in those years so I believe that to be accurate.From the 1969 Product Selling Information book- Model 8457, Ninety Eight Holiday Coupe. Engine: 10.25 compression 455 cid 4 barrel, 365 hp @4600 rpm, 510 lb/ft torque @ 3000 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif" alt="" /> Transmission & rear end: Turbo 400 with std 2.56:1 axleDimensions: 224.4" long, 80" wide, curb weight 4359 lb on a 127" wheelbaseStandard equipment included: power steering, brakes and windows, 2-way power Custom Sport bench seat with center fold-down armrest, lamp convenience group, fully carpeted trunk and full wheel covers. Optional equipment: you could get about any option Olds offered on these cars. Sometimes certain other options were required to get the one you wanted.Interestingly, in a time when GM was sticking a vinyl roof on just about everything that went out the door, the PSI book shows the Ninety Eight Holiday Coupe without one. That sounds great, and will look good for an article I will be writing on my car (I need your basic info so I can site you if its ok) lykeios@lykeios.com One thing though...I totally agree on vinyl ( hate the stuff myself) but sadly my car has it.It is a three toned affair, dark metallic blue body, with light blue on the molding around the vinyl top and a medium to light blue vinyl roof. It also has white pinstriping, all of which looks very elegant actually! He does have the split bench with arm rest, light group (on the mirror and above the radio) carpeted trunk and full wheel covers. However, it only has an AM radio and a spring mounted antenna...I doubt the latter is original but could be. The whole car is supposed to be original with all its pieces. It has the decals on the air cleaner and the two on the trunk lid still for operating the jack. Nowhere does it SAY Holiday Coupe...that is what the owner told me it was. But needless to say it is one hot ride and a great car! The engine is in perfect trim and the interior, with a few minor scratches or bobbles, is nearly perfect including the ice blue satin seats. rocketraider Posted December 1, 2002 Share Posted December 1, 2002 "Holiday" was Olds-speak for the pillarless hardtop body first introduced on 1949 Ninety Eight two doors as Holiday Coupe, then expanded to the 76 and 88 series in 1950. The Holiday Sedan four-door hardtop was introduced for all series in 1955. The cars didn't have external "Holiday" badging every year- I know 51-53 had a lucite one on the roof C-post, and 54-56 had HOLIDAY lettering on either the doors or front fender. 1963 88s had a Holiday script on the roof sailpanel. 61s and some 62s had them on the interior door panels. Those are all I remember.Several Holidays were made in later years, even after true hardtops weren't being made anymore. 1977-81 Delta 88s had a "Holiday 88" package with bucket seats/console and badging. 1984-86 Cieras had a Holiday Coupe option that was mainly a vinyl roof with revised quarter windows. Give my regards to the Rocky Mountain Olds Club. They hosted an outstanding National Meet last year that, in retrospect, I wish I had made an effort to attend. I loved my first car which was a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sport, white with Black vinyl roof / interior, and now the 98. It has been a marvelous car to drive and just ride in (my son drives it mostly since I am disabled). I am looking forward to meeting the group at the OCA Rocky Mountain chapter and will extend your warm greetings. I have heard that the Rocky Mountain groups all preform marvelously in producing wonderful shows. I am also a memebr of the Rocky Mountain Cadillac LaSalle Club which is an outstanding group.
