Corellian Corvette
Did a search and haven't seen this posted before. Trying to get my 1990 Reatta back into fighting shape. One of the issues is that the passenger door automatic lock doesn't work. I assumed it was the actuator, but after removing the door panel the problem is that the metal tab / pin that goes from the lock lever into the actuator is broken - the actuator works fine. So now I'm stumped. The lock lever is riveted to the frame, and doesn't look repairable. I attached a pic of where the broken PIN is. Has anyone encountered this before and have suggestions to get it working?
Barney Eaton
I have never tackled the job but everything is crammed in a tight space and you probably need to take everything out to find and fix the problem. All of the parts should be available used. When you get it apart you might find you can make a bracket or something else to repair what you have. I have a "door ajar" switch that is bad and I am too lazy to fix it.
ClayTron
I have the same problem, same door. And yeah I haven't been able to find any other cars in the wrecking yards that have the same linkage or whatever it's called. I'm thinking I'll have to fabricate something on my own... Or just keep reaching across and unlocking it the old fashioned way lol
Jim
I have those parts but am in AZ for another week. Jim
Corellian Corvette
So the solution to this was pretty easy - a 4mm machine screw and nut. I ground out a groove with a dremel where the part was broken, and slid in a 4mm screw, bolted it down, and problem solved.
