Guest
Hi all, I got the car home it is DA 1765 on tag. Is this a 1929 then? My question today is: Did these cars use a vacuum fuel system under the hood? Mine has a small elec pump under there. A very bad place for an elec pump in my opinion. Can anyone send me good photos of thier vacuum tank under hood so I can see what i need?By the way Jan, since you are probably reading this....remember me....I was in contact with you when my friend Al was restoring his 1926 Star. I was surprised to see your name come up here. Glad to see you again. The Star is beautiful. Did I send you any pics of it?Thanks for all help it is appreciated. Please send pics to my e-mail as I am having trouble logging into this site.smith@teisprint.com
Jan Arnett
Hi Jake: I bought a 1923 Dodge Screen side truck for my wife to take the grandkids in parades and I am currently restoring it. My 23 Dodge has the same vac tank as my 24 Star and probably the same as your 29 Dodge. If you go to the Dodge Web Site they have some pictures of cars with their hood up and you may be able to see how the tank mounts. Also use Google search engine and search for a 29 Dodge and see what you come up with. You may be suprised. No, I never did see the finished Star. Wish you luck and move that fuel pump or get rid of it as it can be a fire hazard. Lots of luckJan <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/blush.gif" alt="" />
JB-ed
These used a Kingston vacuum tank. Our tech advisor Harry R says they are wonderful. I suggest you advertise in the Flea Market of club magazine and ought to find a vacuum tank easy enough. I have had various Victory Sixes (year earlier than DA) that previous owners tried substituting electric pumps. Most always trouble. Go back to original, rebuild it nicely, and you will be happy. Does the owners manual show this tank? Romar sells a repro manual and repro parts book for the DA, probably worth the price just for the pix.
