dl456
Hello , Another quick question . Is there fender welt between the rear bumper valance and the body ? If so, where does it end? At the body/ fender or continue to the end of the valance. Thanks, Dennis
larry butcher
I checked the Lincoln Continental Authenticity Manual and it mentioned only welt at the fenders. When I removed the rear valance from my '48 LC Coupe there was no traces of welting material. I don't think anyone had ever removed this before me. I may install 2 pcs. about 8" long on each side with the beading tucked under, probably wrong but; gives a finished look
19tom40
I don't know if welting was used there, but it was common practice to use an anti-squeek material between body parts. Restoration Specialties sells this material. Match the width to the flange on the valance and use the 1/8" thickness material. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/2018_PDF_Catalog_RSSI.pdf Edited December 16, 2018 by 19tom40 correct information (see edit history)
larry butcher
Thats right Tom, there is a piece of anti-squeek material between the body and the spare tire bracket ( "Continental Kit") on my '48 LC coupe
dl456
Thanks for the replies. I installed it with two short pieces of welt between the body and valance. Looks good and looks right. Who knows? Dennis
