KSC
I have a Philift forklift that has a Chrysler Industrial Engine, that is clearly marked Model: Ind 5A, Type 315. with a serial number 75775. Can you help me to identify the CID of the engine, and the year it was manufactured, and any other pertinent information that might help me with obtaining parts in the future. keiser31
The top "CHRYSLER" lettering is about 1936, but I don't know if that is any indication of the year.
ply33
If I read this page correctly, it is a 218 cu. in. engine with the 23" block.
KSC
Do the serial numbers identify the year it was built?

On the engines that went into cars the alpha numeric prefix on the engine number corresponded to the engineering code for the vehicle it went into so you can tell what year or year range the engine was made. For example an engine number of P4-12345 would be for a P4 model Plymouth which would have been a 1937 model year.
