my fancy dacey  drill bit aligning tool I made out of some floor sweepings to make shur the hole comes out wear I want it to in the cast part in the center of the factory hole

    That is a neat low budget trick that I was not aware of for getting the holes to line up.  Thanks for the posting this.   Hugh

I don't want to ask a dumb question, but why wouldn't you just drill from the other direction?  That is, if you started the bit in the center of the existing hole in the cast piece (drilling from right to left in your picture), wouldn't everything line up?  Mark the center of the hole, put a brad point bit on the mark, and you should be dead nuts, no?

the hole is at 15 deg up and going 8 deg towards the wall no room for the drill when the drill bit pops out its heading for the wall at a rally fast angle
