Spinneyhill
Spindles = king pins? If yes, check them for movement. It is easiest with the wheel on because you get more leverage. Are the bushes OK? Does the whole steering knuckle move up and down more than spec? Are the end caps in place - they keep the grease in so it doesn't just squirt out the top and bottom when you inject grease at the nipple.
Spinneyhill
The thrust bearing should be smooth too. But you can't really check it very well without taking the king pin out and looking at the bearing. Check the shims are in place to control the up-down movement of the knuckle.
