Continental Motors Corporation bore test gauge

This is a bore test gauge with face marked " Continental Motors Corporation " in red
It's APPROXIMATELY 2 1/4" and has a 0-15 -
Made by Federal products Corp. #1201 P3
I'm not sure if it works or what it was for,
heavy piece for the size , displays nice.
I think it's 30's or 40's era ?
