Guest bx2008bx
An old photo of my great grandpa with his car in the 1930s. I know he had an Essex and a Seabrook RMC at one time. Can this car be either of those? Or is this another make? He lived in Stavanger, Norway. Edited May 7, 2017 by bx2008bx (see edit history)
Casper Friederich
Definitely not an Essex by Hudson Motor Co. Seabrook RMC was the name under wich the Detroit-built Regal was marketed in England, to avoid confusion with a similar-named French car. nzcarnerd
Some details of the car in the picture are not very clear but it could be a Regal from 1915-1916. They produced very conventional looking cars during that period. Going by what I read here - http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/january-1993/60/seabrook-rmc - it would seem that Seabrook ceased importing Regals for sale in the UK at the start of WW1. Still a mystery. Edited May 8, 2017 by nzcarnerd (see edit history)
Leif Holmberg
Looks close to 1915 Regal with this"unloaded"rear axle, and not so curved front fender against the running board.(Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942) Leif in Sweden.
Guest bx2008bx
Thank you for your replies. Much appreciated, as I will post the photo in a book about our family history, and needed to know what kind of car it was to make a proper text for the photo. nzcarnerd
Some copies of Regal advertising here. As can be seen there was not a lot really distinguished or distinguishing about them. http://www.realclassicads.com/carads/regalmotor.html
