GrampaBud
When I bought my 1962 Electra 225 4 door hardtop last summer it came with, what I was told was, the OE motor and trans. The motor in the car has dual AFB's on a Weiand manifold, aluminum rocker covers and valley cover. And my wife wondered why I wanted to buy it!! I would like to verify what the other motor and trans are. Can anyone tell me what numbers to look for and where they are? Thanks in advance! RivNut
http://buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_where.html You're looking for the Engine Code - stamped, not cast on the top of the block as seen in the picture. The picture is of a 66 engine - code M For 59, you'll be looking for a 2I (that's a capital letters I, not a 1) or a 4I. 2 for 2 barrel; 4 for 4 barrel. The letter I follows the chronological letter sequence for Buick production coding - F for 59 through M for 66 on the nailhead. http://buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_59_62 http://buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_63_75
