pont35cpe
I have two Carter WCD carbs., they look the same except for the tag#, one is 528S the other is 533S. Can anyone tell me what the difference is? and what would it take to make the 533S a 528S?
Bob Engle
Google the carb numbers and you will see what models and years the carbs fit. I think you will find the 533 fits a larger series engine and therefore, the venturi bore will most likely be different. Bob Engle

They`re both front carbs for the dual carb set-up, of the small and larger engine as you stated. Tom
carbking
The really easy way to convert a 533s into a 528s is to find someone with a 528s to trade! But to answer the asked question: As Bob mentioned, the venturii are different. Since the venturii in the 533s are larger than those in the 528s, one would have to machine a "venturi sleeve" of the proper diameter to reduce the venturii size. I have a 1941 Buick 248 dual carb engine with the stock 528s(front) and a 543s(rear) with the progressive linkage. I`m thinking of running two front carbs with parallel linkage. Is this a good idea or am I way out of line? Tom

Jon, are there any other Carter carb numbers that would work with the 528s or just another 528s? Tom
carbking
Tom - Carter shows no supercessions for the 528s. Be patient, they aren't that difficult. All it takes is a bit of cash. Finding them is easy. Jon.
