What does the + and a number under ones photo (silhouette) mean and how does a persons  send a private message?  Ken, Deltaville Va

The + symbol is how much we like you. You need to try to sit with the cool kids at lunch and make sure you wear the right kind of shirts.

 

Actually, it's just how many "Like this" clicks you get. It doesn't mean anything beyond that and doesn't have any effect on your ability to post and read.

 

To send a private message, hover your mouse over a member's name and a window will [eventually] pop up and there's a "Message" link there to send a private message. You can also click their name to go to their profile and send a message from there.
